Many real estate investors don’t put enough emphasis on networking in their investment strategy. Being in this industry, it can be easy for investors to silo themselves and their businesses for the fear of competition. However, networking with other local investors will actually help you in the long run. The size (and quality) of your network can directly determine how many deals you do, how quickly you make money, and ultimately, what your profits are.

If you want access to better deals, funding and buyers, you have to establish and scale your network. Below are some ways you can easily expand your network and connect with other investors:

Attend Industry Events

Industry events, conferences, and in-person seminars are a great place to network with other real estate professionals. Not only will you have a huge pool of people to engage with, but you’ll also get the chance to meet people from various functions within the industry. It also gives you the opportunity to engage with them face-to-face, which makes networking so much more meaningful.

Do some research to see if there are any official REIA groups in your area. Joining will give you insight into events that are hosted throughout the year that you might not hear of otherwise.

Utilize Social Media

In the age of social media, you can easily connect with anyone anywhere in the world. Follow other real estate professionals on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn and actively engage with them. Engage with their content by leaving comments on their posts, and don’t be afraid to even message them to introduce yourself. There are also thousands of REI-focused groups on social platforms that you can easily join and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs.

It’s also important to make sure your social media presence is up-to-date and optimized, so people will seek you out and start to connect with you. Post updates about your ongoing projects, talk about your own tips and tricks when it comes to renovations, or share projects from other investors in your local area that you come across, and watch how quickly your network grows.
